Your questions, in practice · Luxembourg
Can overseas business travel be reimbursed?
Yes. Overseas business travel can be reimbursed with evidence for transport, meals and accommodation. Separate private costs and retain invoices in their original currency. Foreign VAT follows a separate recovery process from VAT charged in your company’s home country.
How should foreign-currency expenses be handled?
Retain the original amount and currency, then convert the expense into your accounting currency. For card payments, keep the amount actually debited and exchange charges. For cash payments, record the exchange rate and conversion date so the calculation can be checked.
